T-shirt Dress Styled 3 Ways

Today I want to show you ladies how to style a good ol' t-shirt dress 3 different ways. I'm wearing the anchor print Tee Dress from Old Navy different patterns & solid colors available
here. I love this dress because it's so extremely comfortable and easy to wear. It's the next best thing from pjs! Lol ;)

My first look is for work. You can easily make this office ready by layering a belted shirt over it and turning it into a skirt! Heels & classy accessories make it look more polished. I made the look more fun by pattern mixing the stripes and anchors. It's not too over the top because I kept everything in the same color palette.

The second look I put together is date night. I kept it pretty simple, just stacked on jewels & added some funky wedges. You could even toss a cool white leather moto jacket or navy or white blazer over it for chilly nights. How perfect would this be for a dinner on the water!

My final look is weekend wear! Red flats, a long gold rope necklace, & aviator shades are comfortable,  easy going,  & really bring out the nautical feel of this dress!

Who knew such a simple dress could get so much use! Hope this gave you some ideas on how to get the most use out of a summer staple like this one!  Thanks for stopping by!

Flat Out Ready For Spring!!!

Spring may be here officially according to the calendar,  but here in New England the weather is still feeling very much like winter. Sadly that means my toes still need to remain in hiding (though they're begging me to see some sunlight) lol.  I am however on a strike against socks! Soooo.... that leaves me with flats. And I'm fine with that! I've been a fan of flats for as long as I can remember & I feel like in the last few years they've come a long way! There are styles out there for everyone and you honestly can style them in so many ways! Seriously dress pants, jeans, dresses, shorts, skirts, anything goes and you're sure to stay comfy!! I've selected 12 styles from 3 of my favorite places to get flats (4 per store / website). And the best part...they're all UNDER $30!!!! Take note that this year's must haves are: Pastel colors, pointy toes, metallic,  animal print,  studded, and nautical. ..Some shoes have a few of these styles all in one ;)

The first place I totally recommend you checking out for some of the cutest shoes along with clothes, accessories,  & so much more is gojane.com The average price for a pair of flats on this site is $20! I just ordered 3 pairs recently (2 shown below) ;)

Next up Old Navy!!! Yayyy who doesn't love ON especially with shoes between $10-$30. Check these styled out at oldnavy.com

Last but certainly not least I bring to you my top picks from the one & only Target. Most styles come in several colors (for all of these sites) so if you like a style I feature but aren't crazy for the color don't let it discourage you from checking them out! Also, most come in extended sizes.

So there ya have it, my shopping guide to the hottest and of course most affordable flats for this season! I'll leave you guys with a question...what's your favorite way to style flats!!?? Comment answers below & thanks for reading!  :) ♡♡

Perfect Spring Jacket

Strolling through one of my absolute favorite stores, Target, a few weeks ago and stumbled across this beauty! I instantly fell in love♡ It's super light weight, so perfect for spring or even summer nights. The floral pattern reminds me of something out of an Asian painting for some reason...Japanese Cherry Blossom looking perhaps?  This is the type of piece you build your outfit around. As soon as I saw it I envisioned it with my tuxedo pants & color block heels & sure enough it looks just how I pictured :) I felt no need for accessories so I could just let the details of the jacket steal the show!

Jacket: Target $32
Tuxedo Stripe Pants: Old Navy (on sale now for $25)
Lace Cami: Victoria's Secret (old)
Purse: Aldo Accessories (last season)
Shoes: Urban Outfitters - similar here

Pattern Play

A huge trend I've seen taking over the world of fashion especially in the media such as magazines,  Pinterest, & Instagram, is pattern mixing. When done right it can really make someone's unique style stand out. Mixing patterns such as leopard print and florals or even stripes & polka dots can really add interest to what otherwise might be a very simple outfit.     Here's my version of a mixed pattern outfit. The key is to stick to one color palette with just one pop of color if you desire. I also think it's fun to mix dressy pieces like a pencil skirt with a more casual top to give the outfit balance.

Pencil Skirt: J.Crew Factory
Striped Tee: J.Crew Factory
Shoes: American Eagle for Payless (old)
Link bracelet: T.J. Maxx
Crystal bracelet: Forever 21
Necklace: Amazon
Watch: Michael Kors

I'd like to leave you with a question....what's your favorite patterns to mix? I love getting ideas from my fellow fashion lovers♡ Thanks for stopping by!! xo

Step Into Spring With 10 Items under $30 each

Alright ladies (& possibly gents), I've been wanting to do a post like this for quite sometime so here it is! Spring is right around the corner so I've put this list together of AFFORDABLE goodies that are in stores NOW! These will update your wardrobe into its spring/summer transition.  All these pieces look great on all bodies from thin, boyish figures to curvier figures ;) And of course...they won't break the bank!! So here we go....

The first item I am proclaiming as a must have staple this spring is a light weight blazer in a soft pastel color. Pastels are going to be everywhere this season. Out with the usual bright neons we would normally start busting out in the spring. Think more "Easter" type of colors. Very elegant,  looks great on all skin tones, no wonder it's become the it shade for Spring 2014

Next we have the floral skater skirt. I personally believe floral print never goes out of style and it's especially popular in spring. The "skater skirt" style has become my absolute favorite because it's extremely forgiving.  It flares away from your body perfectly hiding any imperfections without being too bulky. My favorite way to wear them is up higher on your waist with a tank top tucked in and a boyfriend cardigan layered over it. Don't forget the adorable ankle booties if it's still chilly out!

Next is an item I've been searching for, but I think I've finally found my pair....Mint colored pants! These could be a great go to when you're unsure of what to wear but you don't want to look boring. Pair them with a simple, flowy white tee & strappy white sandals or for a more "on trend" look wear then with more pastels like a pale pink top.

Alright, lets bring a dress into the mix! I'm stoked that nautical is really in style right now. I've seen anchors everywhere and I love it! I ordered this dress and I'm dying for it to be warm enough to wear it. I can tell this is going to be a go to staple for me this summer. The material is soft & light, it drapes perfectly over your body without being clingy.

So....I read somewhere (in one of my fashion magazines) that Radiant Orchid will be the it color of 2014. I'm really happy about that because this color is gorgeous!  Once again,  whether you're blonde with blue eyes or have really dark features,  you can pull off this color! This beautiful top from A.N.A makes it easy to incorporate the color into your wardrobe.

Next is an obvious spring/summer staple. White jeans! I'm certain I wear my white jeans at least once a week in the summer. I don't have to tell you how to wear these because they seriously look great with everything!  Here's a pair for under $30, as I promised ;)

Here's a top I've included mostly just for fun. One of my favorite styles for spring & summer is Bohemian.  When I saw this bohemian style blouse at American Eagle I just had to have it. Perfect for really hot days, just add a pair of cut off shorts, gladiator sandals, & some turquoise jewelry♡

Ok,  time to throw accessories into the mix. Polka dots are really in right now and the best way to spruce up a simple outfit with barely any effort is to top it off with a fun scarf. (I think this scarf would look super cute with the mint pants, just sayin' hehe)

Statement necklaces have easily become my favorite piece of jewelry.  You can wear them dressed up with an LBD for an evening look but my favorite way to wear them is casually over a chambray top, plaid button up, or plain tshirt. I found this boutique through Instagram and they've become my accessory go to. Most affordable prices for the latest trends.
This is my favorite necklace of theirs and it's the cheapest J.Crew look a like in this style I could find for only $27 and change. But if this is a little too bold for you, try just a single layer of crystals like this one for only $16.99. I own both and very happy with them.

We've come to the 10th item on my list. Something you can wear with all the items above! Classy, simple, nude colored heels. A must in every woman's closet if she's trying to step up her style.  The nude color not only goes with everything but it literally elongates the appearance of your legs! I love wearing them with jeans rolled up or a bright patterned mini dress! This pair is perfect,  the heel is under 5 inches and the price is right!

So there you have it, I hope this list helps at least one person out there update their look. There are so many more styles I would have loved to include but I didn't want to overwhelm anyone haha. I guess I'll just have to make another post like this again sometime ;)
Please let me know if you enjoyed this, found it helpful, or let me know suggestions of what you'd like to see more or less of. Thank you for reading! xoxo.

The Scarlet Letter

Varsity has been a big trend over the past few months and I don't see it going anywhere soon! I really like the vintage style varsity jackets & letterman sweaters you can find all over the racks (my favorite places to shop varsity are Forever 21, Delia's, & Alloy). Although this may seem like a trend targeted towards younger crowds,  my favorite way to wear it is to make it look more "grown up". The key is to keep it from looking too "school girl". Here's a look I put together that I'd even wear to work (just replace the distressed denim with a sleeker dark, more dressed up pair).

Sweater: Delia's (old) find one similar here
White Poplin: Old Navy
Red Resin Rose Necklace: Amazon
Leopard Heels (thrifted)
Clutch & Watch: Michael Kors
Sunglasses: Cole Haan (T.J. Maxx)

Splurge or Hold Back The Urge ..??

When contemplating whether or not I should make an expensive purchase I always think about it for quite some time.  I'm certainly not rich (hence the name beauty on a budget) but I still want indulge in beautiful things.  I've always thought splurging on brand name accessories such as jewelry,  shoes, purses,  and sunglasses is more sense able  then buying super expensive clothes. Things go in and out of fashion all the time, so it just doesn't make sense to me to have a sweater that costs $300.00 when next winter it won't be "cool" to wear it anymore.  Not to mention there are so many stores that sell the latest trends really cheap such as one of my absolute fave, Forever 21. You can also dress up your fabulous (cheap) clothes with great accessories. ...no one will ever guess your top came off the $5 clearance rack when you are wearing Tory Burch flats & a Louie handbag ;)
Today is tax day for me so here's the splurge I've had my eye on for quite sometime!

Meet the Tory Burch "Robinson" Perforated Leather Dome Sachel available at Nordstrom
Yes it may cost a pretty penny but a bag like this is absolutely timeless. The color, the shape, you can wear this casual or dressed up and all year long. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter this bag will go with everything in your wardrobe.  So I say this is definitely Splurge worthy!

Here's another item I've just been absolutely in love with lately!

The Valentino Rock Stud shoe collection ♡
These babies go for about $945.00 a pair, and unfortunately unlike the purse, this style is bound to go out of style eventually. Luckily there are lots of look a likes out there!! I ordered these
recently from Shoedazzel.com I got them for $14.97 because of a special sale going on but they're still currently on sale for $23.97! I can't wait to wear these once the snow clears up. They're definitely going to add a bit of edge to any outfit!  Since these shoes are very similar to the Valentino ones and are WAY less expensive I say Hold Back The Urge on designer items that you know are just a current fad and just find a knock off, when that style is out and another one is in you won't feel any guilt! ;)

Sail Away With Me...

Today it was a pleasant 45° here in Massachusetts.  I know that doesn't sound very pleasant but compared to the weather we've been having it felt pretty nice. Not sure if any of you know this about me but I'm a lover of all things nautical.  Growing up my dad always had a boat (and still does) & it's honestly one of my favorite things to do. Just sail away into the ocean and leave all my troubles back on shore. I've been missing our boating adventures this winter so when I saw this sweater at Old Navy I just had to have it to lift my spirits :-)

Collared Anchor Print Shirt // Sail Boat Sweater // Pin Striped Loafers - All currently available at: Old Navy
